Residents Asked to Watch for Speeders
May 14, 2016
by Robert LatteryConcern was expressed at the Summit Point HOA board meeting on Friday, May 13, 2016 about the number of speeding cars seen on Humboldt Drive over the past few weeks. Speculation was that drivers were trying to avoid the stop light at the intersection of state highway 85 (Glynn) and state highway 92.
Board members want to alert residents that they should record any speeding drivers and get the license plates of the cars involved, if possible. The board will collect the information to hand over to the Fayetteville Police when asking for more patrols in the neighborhood or a possible reduction in the speed limit.
Summit Point has many families with children who play in the area and speeders are a hazard to them and all the residents.
The posted speed limit on all the streets in Summit Point is 25 m.p.h. Since the City of Fayetteville owns all the streets in Summit Point, they are responsible for speed enforcement, repairs and speed limit changes.
