The Clean Up of the Drainage Areas Scheduled to Begin July 5
June 16, 2016
by Robert LatteryThe long awaited clean up of the drainage areas in the Summit Point subdivision is scheduled to begin just after the Independence Day holiday.
The final contract for the clean up was signed by the Summit Point HOA Board and the City of Fayetteville last week. There were delays in the contract signing due to changes requested by the Summit Point HOA to ensure that the clean up was done properly and to the satisfaction of the homeowners.
Weatherup Construction is scheduled to begin the extensive cleanup on July 5, 2016. Many, but not all, of the trees and shrubs growing in the ditches will be removed. However, some trees will remain to maintain the integrity of the slopes of the ditches and to prevent erosion. In fact, a few new trees will be strategically planted in the drainage areas for the same purpose.
Grass and weeds in the drainage areas will be cut and treated. The concrete walls and riprap will be repaired and restored. In addition, any trash and debris will be removed.
The Summit Point HOA Board is well aware that this clean up is now very overdue. Once the clean up is completed the Summit Point HOA will be responsible for maintaining these drainage areas in the future. The estimated yearly cost for this maintenance is expected to be in the $3000-$5000 range.
